What advice would you give to a new CFMA member to get the most out of their membership?

Volunteer!  Attending CFMA events is great – and you’ll get to meet a lot of interesting people in the construction industry – but to truly build relationships I recommend joining a committee.  You’ll be furthering your investment in the industry, giving back to CFMA, and strengthening bonds with your peers in the industry!

What is the strangest food(s) you’ve ever eaten?

Jellyfish . . . I don’t recall it having much flavor outside of what was added to it during preparation, but the texture was definitely unique!  It was one of the courses in an amazing omakase dining experience!

Where is your favorite place to travel/best vacation?

I’ve had the opportunity to take some fantastic vacations, but the one that stands out was going on safari in South Africa.  It was surreal seeing wild animals in their element.  Also, the sunrises and sunsets were the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen!

What influenced your decision to join CFMA?

As a young accountant I saw CFMA as group of close knit folks who wanted to help not only each other but the industry as a whole. Being an ex-athlete this really impressed me and made me want to join the CFMA Chicago team.
